Abstract |
Basal ganglia calcification occurs frequently in patients with hypoparathyroidism. However, the accompanying changes in the white matter have not been characterized. An 80-year-old woman presented with general weakness. Brain computed tomography revealed bilateral calcification in basal ganglia, cerebellum, thalamus, and subcortical white matter with severe white matter lesions, in addition to small amount of subdural hematoma. This was diagnosed as bilateral striato-pallido-dentate calcinosis. Here, we report a case of bilateral striato-pallido-dentate calcinosis with severe white matter lesions in a patient with hypoparathyroidism. |
